VG2A MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2010

MONDAY GOALS:

  1. Finalize student data and email addresses.
  2. Introduce Blog
  3. Introduce Black History Month
UNIT 1: INTRODUCTION TO MICROSOFT WORD
AIM: Why should we celebrate Black History Month?
STANDARDS: CTE: Research using multimedia resources. Word processing software.
ELA: Research and writing. SS: History.
TASK: Create a poster of an important figure in Black American History.

Directions: In celebration of black history in February you will do a mini-research project on an outstanding individual who contributed to human progress, especially in America. The individual must have made great contributions to one of the following broad areas: literature, fine or performing arts; math, medicine, science, technology, or engineering; history or politics. Your assignment is to write a 100 word summary of the person’s life and achievements. Do not simply copy facts you find; rather write a summary in your own words. Here’s the format:

Name __________________________________

Summary: This should be typed. Use separate paper.

Conclude with a comment stating the reason you admire the person.

Source: State the exact title of the book, reference or internet address. Do not rely only on Wikepedia, which may be a quick, handy source, but it is not always accurate. We’ve included some groups, as well as individuals
